Mara Jones heads to her first Olympic Games this summer in women's lightweight doubles with veteran Fiona Milne. In 2003, Jones finished fifth in the same event at the World Championship in Milan.
Milne and Jones have only been together in doubles since May, but so far the combination has been very successful. They won gold at an international regatta in Duisburg, Germany and the World Cup final in Lucerne, Switzerland. They also took silver medal at a World Cup in Munich.
"It was a confirmation that we're on the right track," said Jones, currently on leave from the University of Toronto medical school. "We took all of those races as a stepping-stone. It's a small step to where we want to be."
