Andrew Hoskins is one of the more experienced crew members on the men’s eight. He went to the Sydney Olympics as a spare for the men’s eight. He got a seat in 2001 and hasn’t been dislodged since helping Canada to world titles in 2002 and 2003. He started rowing in 1995 in Edmonton after injuries forced him out of gymnastics. He then moved to Victoria where he enjoyed plenty of national success with the University of Victoria team. Hoskins is married with one son and works in environmental sciences at the U of Vic.
Hoskins roots are based in New Zealand. His grandfather Ted Lindstrom was an assistant coach with the New Zealand rowing team at the 1972 Olympics. He was close to his garndfather who died in 2001. He named his son after him. As well his uncle David Lindstrom rowed for New Zealand at the 1972 and 1976 Games. His parents are originally from New Zealand.
