Dave Calder returns to the Olympics after placing seventh with the men's eight crew in 2000 in Sydney. He was also on Canada's world champion men's eight crew last year but for Athens he teams with Chris Jarvis in men's pairs.

Calder studied at the University of Washington where he completed a BA in English literature and creative writing. He is also interested in coaching and recently participated in a program coaching under-privileged youth. He hopes to enter law school after 2004.

Calder began rowing at age 13, and has competed for Canada since 1994. He won the world junior title in men's pair in 1996.
