Iain Brambell started rowing when he was 12, and joined the national team in 1994. In 1998, he rowed with his brother at the worlds in Cologne in pairs. He was a member of the Olympic lightweight men's fours that placed seventh in Sydney in 2000 and won two silver medals at the Pan American Games last year. Overall he has also competed at six world championships highlighted by a bronze in lightweight fours in 2002.

He is married to former national team rower and two-time Olympian Laryssa Biesenthal. She'll be on this year's Olympic squad's coaching staff in charge of the lightweight women's doubles.
