Monica Pinette is the second ranked pentathlete in Canada. She entered the sport through Pony Club, but fencing and shooting have also become strong events. She has made remarkable progress internationally over the past two years. She qualified for the world championships in 2002 and 2003. Last season she won the national title, reached the final at two World Cup events and competed at the Pan Am Games. Pinette and her Olympic teammate Kara Grant were also the first Canadian women to ever qualify for the World Cup final last year.

Pinette also coaches junior pentathletes, is involved in community fencing programs, and gives riding lessons.
