Catherine Dunnette will compete in the women's team epee event at the Olympic Games in Athens. She was part of the Canadian epee team that placed sixth last year at a World Cup in Germany. It's the first time Canada has qualified a full women's epee squad for the Olympics.
"I'm really proud to be part of the first Canadian team in history to qualify for the Olympics," said Dunnette.
Dunnette started fencing at age 12 after stabs at swimming and gymnastics. She earned her first national title in 1997 at the cadet level. Dunnette studies psychology at the University of Calgary and also works as a bank teller. She trains at the Epic Fencing Club in Calgary.
