Michael Winter has been named to the Canadian eventing team long or short list every year since 1996. He is expected to ride Balista a 14-year-ol American thoroughbred gelding at the Olympics. Winter is based in Newman, Georgia with his wife Emma, also an eventing competitor and runs a training and competition barn.
Last year at the Pan Am Championships he was a member of Canada's second place team and was 11th individually. These are his first Olympics.
