Bruce Mandeville leads a full eventing team to the Olympics for the first time since 1996. Eventing is a three-day competition comprised of dressage, a cross country event and show jumping. Mandeville competed at the 2000 Olympics on Larissa, his current mount, and placed 22nd.
Mandeville was a member of the Canadian team that qualified Canada for the Olympics with a second place finish at the Pan Am Championships last year.
Mandeville discovered eventing at age 13, training with Canadian Olympian Nick-Holmes-Smith. Also a competitive skier, Bruce won two B.C. championship slalom ski titles as a teenager.
Following high school, he focused solely on his studies. He earned three French diplomas from Université Sorbonne in Paris. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce and his law degree from the University of British Columbia. He returned to riding in the early 1990's.
