Stuart Black plans to ride the eventing competition aboard Fleecework Blackouts, a newly-acquired a nine-year-old black New Zealand thoroughbred gelding. Black owns a horse partnership with his long-time supporter, Mr. Elkins Wetherill.
A veteran of the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games as well as the 1998 World Equestrian Games, Black is one of Canada's most accomplished three day eventing athletes. He became the first foreign competitor to win the prestigious Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event, claiming victory in 1992 aboard Von Perrier. His wife Momi is also a top rider.
Black, who battles Chron's disease, said recently: "I have been out of the picture a bit with my health problems as far as the team is concerned for the last Olympic Games and World Championships, so it is nice to be back in the thick of things for Athens."
