Lori Ann-Muenzer was the only Canadian to qualify for the Olympics in track cycling. But Muenzer is a medal contender in both the women's 500-metre time trial and the match sprint. Strangely enough, Muenzer has emerged as the successor to Canadian cycling great Tanya Dubnicoff even though she is a year older than the Winnipeg speedster.
Muenzer has overcome two serious injuries to in her career suffered in 1994 and 1999. She qualified for the Olympics by placing third in the match sprint at the world championships this past spring in Australia. She is an 11-time national champion and will be oldest competitor in the 12-woman sprint field at the Olympics.
She competed at the Sydney Olympics and placed 13th in the time trial with a personal best time.
