Richard Dalton and his partner Mike Scarola are Canada's Olympic entry in the men's C-2 1,000-metre event. The pair qualified for the team in its final opportunity at a World Cup race where it finished second against a strong international field.

They've enjoyed plenty of international success after just missing a berth for the 2000 Olympic team. At the 2002 world championships they won the bronze medal in the C-2 1,000 and also reached finals at the 2001 and 2003 worlds. Dalton won the world university title in 2002 in the C-1 500 and teamed with Scarola for silver in the C-2 1,000.
