Jean Pascal is one of Canada's brightest young prospects in boxing. At age 18, he advanced to the bronze medal bout at the world championships but just missed earning a trip to the podium. Also in 2001 he won gold at the Francophone Games. The following season he beat a very strong field for gold at the Commonwealth Games and won bronze last year at the Pan Am Games.

Despite all that success, Pascal was forced to appeal a decision by the COC to keep him and Benoit Gaudet off the Olympic team. The matter took three months to resolve but both boxers are off to Athens.

Pascal is a police tech student at College Ahuntsic.
