Guylaine Dumont, a former player with Canada's national indoor team, revitalized her career when she ended a three-year retirement to play beach volleyball again in 2001. She initially joined forces with former indoor teammate Kathy Tough and in their first competition together they won the gold medal at the Francophone Games.

Dumont played for Canada's national indoor team at several major international events between 1985 and 1991 and also played professionally in Italy and Japan from 1990 to 1997. On the beach she is a nine-time Canadian champion. In 1998, the Canadian volleyball publication True North named her Canada's best ever female player.

Dumont is married to Gregor Jelonek, a national team speed skating coach. They have a young daughter.
