Right handed pitcher Jason Dickson is part of a solid nucleus for Team Canada in baseball at the Olympics and he is expected to be in the starting rotation. This season he has climbed back into AAA baseball with the Omaha Royals- the Kansas City Royals farm club. He sports a 2-3 record with the Royal as of July 15. He spent all of last season in the independent Atlantic League and played for Canada at the Olympic qualifier last November pitching five innings.
Dickson brings a lot of major league experience to Team Canada. He was with the Anaheim Angels from 1996 to 2000. He won 13 games for the Angels in his rookie season in 1997, finishing third in the A.L. Rookie of the Year balloting with 27 points, behind Nomar Garciaparra (140 points) and Jose Cruz, Jr. (61 points). He was also named as Anaheim's representative in the 1997 All-Star Game at Cleveland on July 8 but did not pitch in the A.L. victory. He was selected by the Angels in sixthth round of 1994 draft. He missed the entire 1999 season due to shoulder surgery.
