Infielder Stubby Clapp is best remembered as one of the big heroes in Canada's bronze medal performance at the 1999 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg. He drove in the winning run in Canada's 7-6 upset victory over the U.S., in the preliminary round to complete an incredible comeback At the Olympic qualifier last November he sealed the berth with a one out home run that gave Canada the 11-1 mercy rule win, securing the spot at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

Clapp is currently in the Toronto Blue Jays system with the AAA Syracuse Chiefs. He was selected by the St. Lous Cardinals in the 1996 draft. He is a third-generation Stubby. Both his grandfather and dad were called Stubby. He has been called Stubby all his life, from kindergarten right through to pro ball. His real first name is Richard. He played briefly with the Cardinals in June 2001.
