14-year-old Patrice Cormier ineligible for 2005 Draft
BOUCHERVILLE - During the last few weeks, there's been some talk in the media that Patrice Cormier, a 14-year-old player from Cap-Pele, New-Brunswick, might be made eligible despite his age and be selected by a QMJHL team at the 2005 Draft.
Commissioner Gilles Courteau states that no official demand from player Patrice Cormier, his parents or the direction of any of the 18 teams of the QMJHL has been made for the moment to bestow an exceptional status to Patrice Cormier. Even if an official demand was done in the next hours, it would be too short on time, states the Commissioner, to complete the complex evaluation process of the player before the draft in Ville de Saguenay on June 4th.
The 14 years old player Patrice Cormier can therefore not be selected by any QMJHL team on June 4th in Saguenay.
