Canadians Suisham and Ladouceur to start for Cowboys Sunday

Wed, October 26, 2005

Shaun Suisham, a kicker from Wallaceburg, Ontario and L.P. Ladouceur, a long snapper from Pointe Claire, Quebec, will be handling place kicking duties for the Cowboys when they take on the Cardinals on Sunday.

Suisham started kicking at Wallaceburg High School. He then attended Bowling Green University on a scholarship and set the school record for most career points (361). The 23-year-old then signed a free agent contract with the Steelers prior to the 2005 season. Despite being cut before the season started, his performance in Pittsburgh led to a spot on the Cowboys practice roster. When the Cowboys released incumbent Jose Cortez earlier this week, a spot opened up for Suisham on the active roster.

Ladouceur, a former CEGEP star, attended the University of California on a scholarship and was invited to training camp with the New Orleans Saints. A late roster cut, Ladouceur resurfaced with the Cowboys in early October when Dallas Coach Bill Parcells went looking for a new long snapper.
