Canadian Alain Kashama Traded to Seattle Seahawks

Mon, August 29, 2005

The Seattle Seahawks added a fourth Canadian to their roster today, trading a conditional draft choice in 2006 to Chicago for former CEGEP star Alain Kashama.

Kashama, listed at 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, is considered a pass-rush specialist. The 25-year-old grew up in Montreal and played in college at Michigan, where he had 37 tackles and six sacks in 40 career games.

Kashama spent nine weeks on the Bears' active roster as a rookie last season, assisting on one tackle in three games, and spent the other part of the season on Chicago's practice squad.

The Seahawks already had more Canadian content than any other NFL team. Wide receiver Jerome Pathon is from Vancouver, long snapper J.P. Darche is from Montreal and running back Kerry Carter is from Toronto.
