Canadian Jerome Pathon Signs With Seattle Seahawks

Fri, April 22, 2005

The Seattle Seahawks have signed eighth-year veteran wide receiver Jerome Pathon, the team announced Thursday morning.

Over a seven year career Pathon has accumulated 259 receptions, 3,332 yards and 15 touchdowns with a career-high 50 catches twice (1998 and 2000 seasons), 646 yards (2000) and four touchdowns twice (2002 and 2003).

Pathon, who grew up in Vancouver and played high school football at Carson Graham High School, started his football career at CIS Acadia University in Nova Scotia before moving on the the University of Washington.

"After high school I started sending out my game tapes to a number of U.S. schools, and none of them were really interested in a full scholarship," said Pathon. "One of my coaches had attended Acadia University (Nova Scotia, Canada) for football, so he sent me there."

In his first season at Acadia (1993) Pathon was named Canadian University football's top rookie after catching 44 passes for 868 yards and 10 touchdowns. His standout offensive performance, combined with the fact that he qualified for the Canadian National Track Team in long jump, opened the eyes of the coaching staff at the University of Washington. Pathon went on to become the Huskies No. 2-ranked all-time receiver.

Pathon was originally selected in the second-round (32nd overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He spent four years with the club playing in 46 games with 30 starts before signing an unrestricted free agent contract with the New Orleans Saints in 2002.
