CFL NFL Europe
Halifax Native Morley To Start For Rhein Fire This Spring

Mon, February 14, 2005

According to the Halifax Daily News Steve Morley, a Nova Scotia native and current member of the NFL Green Bay Packers, will be loaned to the Rhein Fire of the NFL Europe League this spring.

Morley will reportedly start for the Fire, giving the offensive lineman some much needed game action.

The NFL Europe season starts April 2 and ends with the World Bowl on June in Dusseldorf, Germany. Morley will return to the Packers next fall.

"I'll basically be playing year-round," Morley told the Halifax Daily News. "But I'm a pretty young guy, and I think my body can handle it."

The six-foot- seven, 322-pound Morley played University football at St. Mary's in Halifax and defied the odds last season by making an NFL roster.

"My agent (Paul Sheehy) called me a couple weeks ago and said Green Bay wanted me to go," Morley told the Halifax Daily News. "It'll be good for me to see some live action."

Morley's only game action last season came during the preseason.

"Their coaches have said they expect big things from me," Morley told the Halifax Daily News. "And they're wiring film from every game back to Green Bay so they'll be able to keep track of my progress.
