Canadian Contributions in the Super Bowl

  • Philadelphia Eagles Rookie line backer Mike Labinjo made two special teams tackles, including one on the opening kick-off of Super Bowl XXXIX - but it was not enough to capture the game and become the sixth Canadian to play for a Super Bowl champion team. The Eagles were narrowly defeated 24-21 by the New England Patriots.

The 24 year old was on the practice roster until Dec. 14, 2004 when he signed a three-year deal with the Eagles and was given a spot on the active roster and the special-teams squad.

  • New England's receivers coach Brian Daboll, a native of Welland, Ontario captured his third title in five seasons with the Patriots.

Patriots' punter Josh Miller now has a Super Bowl ring to match the Grey Cup ring he earned in 1995 as a member of the CFL's Baltimore Stallions.
