Predators sign Dowd

 NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CP) -- The Nashville Predators signed centre Jim Dowd and traded centre Mike Sullivan to Phoenix for a seven-round 1999 draft pick, general manager David Poile announced Tuesday.
 Dowd, 29, split last season between the Calgary Flames and their AHL farm club in Saint John, N.B. He had six goals and eight assists in 48 games with Calgary, and eight goals and 30 assists for Saint John. He was in the New Jersey Devils organization from 1992 to 1996.
 Sullivan, 30, was selected from Boston in the expansion draft last Friday, he had five goals and 13 assists in 77 games with the Bruins last season.
