Thursday, December 10, 1998 Turcotte gets contract extensionNASHVILLE, Tenn. (CP) -- Darren Turcotte has signed a one-year contract extension with the Nashville Predators."I could have been an unrestricted free agent but I didn't want to go through a situation where I didn't know where I'd be, or be without a contract," said the 30-year-old centre. "I went to (GM) David (Poile) and basically told him that I liked the position I had on the team, that I liked being part of an expansion team, and that I'd like some security." Terms were not announced, but it's believed Turcotte will make the same $850,000 US salary he's making this season, says the Tennessean. Turcotte has been hampered by wrist and finger injuries. He has three goals and three assists in 23 games while being used on a checking line and on the penalty-killing unit. |
