Friday, September 25, 1998AVALANCHE 2, Blues 1Trepanier goal buries BluesDENVER (AP) -- Pascal Trepanier scored the game-winnin goal with 4:03 left as the Colorado Avalanche beat the St. Louis Blues 2-1 in an NHL pre-season game Thursday night. Valeri Kamensky added a power-play goal for the Avalanche (4-1-0). Craig Billington stopped 29 of 30 shots. Chris Kenady scored a power-play goal for St. Louis (1-2-0) that tied the game midway through the final period. Jamie McLennan had 12 saves in two periods and Grant Fuhr stopped eight shots working the second period. With Al MacInnis serving an interference minor, Joe Sakic gotthe puck to Trepanier in the slot. Trepanier fired a low drive through a screen past Fuhr. The Blues outshot the Avalanche 13-8 in the first period, but trailed 1-0. Kamensky took a pass inside the blue line, faked McLennan to the ice and at 14:12 sent a backhander into the net with MacInnis serving a hooking minor. St. Louis was 0-for-5 on the power play, including a two-man advantage for 1:12, before Kenady beat Billington to the stick side with a wrist shot at 9:16 of the third period.
