Tuesday, November 23, 1999 Martin Skoula scores first NHL goalDENVER (CP) -- Martin Skoula's English might be limited, but he had no trouble coming up with an adjective to describe his first NHL goal."Awesome," he beamed. Skoula, 20, a Czech who played junior hockey in Barrie, Ont., the last two years, got the goal at 6:24 of the second period of Colorado's 3-2 overtime win Monday night in Dallas. Skoula got more than 25 minutes of ice time from coach Bob Hartley, who was asked if the six-foot-two defenceman could be a star in the NHL. "I think he already is," Hartley told the Denver Post. "Since the start of the season, he's playing with so much poise. "He pays attention to detail, he listens, and he's really progressing in our system."
