Checkers fan the Flames
MONTREAL (CP) -- The Calgary Flames checking line of centre Jeff Shantz and rookies Travis Brigley and Steve Begin may be ready for prime time. Brigley scored the tying goal in a Sunday exhibition game against the Montreal Canadiens and his aggressive forechecking produced two scoring chances in the early going. Shantz also scored.Of his two linemates, Shantz said: "You know what you get out of them. Begin works his butt off. Brigley is a talented guy, really smart, so it's really easy to read off both of them."
