GDFG tour is over, but on-line auction still open
The four-month odyssey known as the Goodyear Drive for Gold reached its conclusion January 23 in Calgary. The tour, which featured a Zamboni visiting 69 communities across Canada, was designed to wish the Canadian Men's and Women's Hockey Teams success in Salt Lake City and raise funding for community hockey programs. The closing ceremony included executives from each of the tour sponsors, Hockey Hall of Fame Honoured Member Lanny McDonald, best-selling author and grassroots hockey supporter Walter Gretzky, outstanding media coverage and hundreds braving the frigid Calgary air (Goodyear Drive for Cold?) to partake in the festivities. But the end of the tour doesn't mean the end of the event.

Goodyear Drive for Gold says 'best of luck' on behalf of Canada
After travelling more than 14,000 kilometers through all ten provinces over the past four months, the GOODYEAR DRIVE FOR GOLD has concluded its journey. The exciting venture raised enormous awareness of grassroots hockey and continues to raise important funds for the Canadian Hockey Association's community hockey initiatives.

Goodyear Drive for Gold Zamboni creates hockey history as tour concludes in Calgary
It's been wild! It's been crazy! It's been an episode in hockey history! The Goodyear Drive for Gold caravan concludes its tour of Canada with a visit to Calgary on Tuesday, January 22. The caravan, which includes the famous Goodyear Drive for Gold Zamboni as well as a mobile Hockey Hall of Fame exhibit, will have covered 14,419 kilometers by the time it rolls into Calgary, and in the process, will have raised $850,000 for the Canadian Hockey Association's grassroots hockey programs. The tour began Sunday, September 30 in St.John's Newfoundland. In the 115 days since, the tour has visited 69 communities, entertaining the greatest hockey fans in the world!

Temperatures dropping but don't worry Red Deer -- The Goodyear Drive for Gold Zamboni does its best work on ice!
You and I stumble and curse as we flail away, making our way across ice. But while we're looking like rejected acrobats from Cirque du Soleil as we attempt to maintain our balance, the Goodyear Drive for Gold Zamboni calmly goes about its business crossing Canada. On Sunday, January 20, the Goodyear Drive for Gold pulls into Red Deer, spreading its commitment to grassroots hockey programs and raising $850,000 in the process. Red Deer will be visit number 68 of 69 communities visited as the Goodyear Drive for Gold winds down its four-month tour.

GDFG Zamboni set to roll into Medicine Hat
Chugging along at a lofty 10 kilometers per hour, the Goodyear Drive for Gold Zamboni will be passed by scooters, bicycles and skateboards when it drives through Medicine Hat on Friday, January 18. But there's not a person in the city who won't stop to marvel at the sight. The Goodyear Drive for Gold Zamboni, part of a four-vehicle caravan, will arrive in Medicine Hat on its way to Calgary and the conclusion of the Goodyear Drive for Gold. Medicine Hat is the 67th of 69 stops for the Goodyear Drive for Gold, which has covered all ten provinces and accumulated 13,835 kilometers on the way. Goodyear Drive for Gold is a motorcade of four vehicles travelling from coast to coast and visiting 69 communities between September 30, 2001 and January 23, 2002, raising awareness and $850,000 for the Canadian Hockey Association's grassroots hockey programs.
