Navigating the CANOE Forums
The Canoe Forums are open to everyone. There is no signup required to read postings to the forums. You will require a CANOE ID in order to reply to a message or to post a new message. You can get a CANOE ID by clicking

The Board Screen
The board screen lists all of the top-level messages available within the forum that has been chosen. The board screen displays the subject of the message, as well as the number messages with that thread, if there are more than one. Once you click on a particular topic, the initial message and all replies will appear automatically.
When you first enter a forum, postings from the last 10 days will be displayed. You can change the number of days of postings displayed by using the pull-down menu at the top of the topic listings.
The Message Screen
The message screen shows the message that has been selected. Information that is included on this screen include the identity of the person who posted the message and the date the message was posted. If you would like to edit or delete your message after it has been posted, there are links to do so at the end of each entry.
Reply to this Message: Creates a new message that will appear underneath the previously posted messages.
Return: If you are in a message and would like to return to the board screen, click on Return located at the top of the list.
Posting New Messages
To post a new message to the discussion, click the Post link on the board screen. If you have not logged into CANOE before clicking on Post, an authorization box will pop asking you for your CANOE login and password. If you do not have an account, click
here. Once you are logged in correctly, the Post form will then appear, with fields for entering the Title and Body. Your CANOE login will be the name used for display purposes. Type in the message title and body text. When you are ready to submit your post, click on Post Message and the message will be posted. HTML tags are not accepted and will be automatically stripped from the message prior to being posted on the message board. Profanity is not allowed and if it is included in a message, the message will be rejected.
Replying to Existing Messages
To respond to an existing message, click on the Reply link while viewing the message text. The Reply form is identical to the Post form in both function and appearance except that the message being responded to is displayed beneath the Post Message button for reference.
Searching the message boards
You can search the message boards by topic or by Canoe ID by using the quick search feature at the bottom of the listings page.
Other notes
Profanity and Objectionable Content
The use of profanity is not accepted in CANOE forums. When a message is posted, if profanity is found, the message will be rejected until the offending words are removed. Messages that contain objectionable content (illegal, racist, etc.) will also be removed at the discretion of CANOE moderators. You can alert a CANOE moderator to abuse of a forum by clicking on the 'Alert moderator' link at the top of the topic page.
