Ricky in 'Dirty Dancing II'
Everyone's favourite dance movie is coming back, but this time, it might be a pop star instead of Patrick Swayze who takes the lead role.
Ricky Martin and Natalie Portman ("Star Wars") are in talks to star in a "Dirty Dancing" sequel, Variety reports.
Artisan Entertainment and Miramax Films are planning to re-vamp the 1987 film by setting it in Miami's South Beach and adding a Latin element to the plot.
The original movie, set in 1963, starred Patrick Swayze as Johnny Castle and Jennifer Grey as Frances 'Baby' Houseman and followed the romance between a young guest at a Catskills resort and her dancing instructor.
Earlier this year, rumours had pop star Britney Spears in the role opposite Ricky Martin, but in April a Jive spokesperson told MTV that Britney wasn't getting serious about the movie business just yet.
"Dirty Dancing" grossed $63 million in North America, and the soundtrack sold more than 20 million units worldwide.
In 1996, Live Entertainment began planning the sequel and reportedly offered Swayze $5 million to woo an on-screen love with his dancing skills one more time.
The current rumours say that Swayze might make a cameo appearance in the sequel.
