: Pierre Lueders, Edmonton; Ken LeBlanc, Calgary; Giulio Zardo, Montreal and Pascal Caron, Cap-de-la-Madeleine, wound up ninth after four runs in a final field of 30.

: Donald Farley, Lorraine, finished 40th.
Women's 5,000 metres
: Clara Hughes, Winnipeg, won bronze medal; Cindy Klassen, Winnipeg, placed fourth in a field of 16; Kristina Groves, Ottawa, was 10th.
Men's 500 metres
: Marc Gagnon, Pointe-aux-Trembles, won gold medal; Jonathan Guilmette, Montreal, won silver.
Men's 5,000-metre relay
: Mathieu Turcotte, Montreal; Francois-Louis Tremblay, Boucherville, Que.; Marc Gagnon, Pointe-aux-Trembles, and Jonathan Guilmette, Montreal, won gold medal.
Women's 1,000 metres
: Marie-Eve Drolet, Laterriere, placed fourth in final; Alanna Kraus, Abbotsford, B.C., finished third in semifinal heat, eliminated, finished fourth in B final.
