Alpine Skiing

Men's slalom: Thomas Grandi, Canmore, finished 17th overall in a final field of 50; Jean-Philippe Roy, Ste-Flavie, Que., did not finish first run.

Bobsleigh

Four-man: Pierre Lueders, Edmonton; Ken LeBlanc, Calgary; Giulio Zardo, Montreal and Pascal Caron, Cap-de-la-Madeleine, wound up ninth after four runs in a final field of 30.

Cross-Country Skiing

Men's 50-km classical: Donald Farley, Lorraine, finished 40th.

Speed Skating

Long Track

Women's 5,000 metres: Clara Hughes, Winnipeg, won bronze medal; Cindy Klassen, Winnipeg, placed fourth in a field of 16; Kristina Groves, Ottawa, was 10th.

Short Track

Men's 500 metres: Marc Gagnon, Pointe-aux-Trembles, won gold medal; Jonathan Guilmette, Montreal, won silver.

Men's 5,000-metre relay: Mathieu Turcotte, Montreal; Francois-Louis Tremblay, Boucherville, Que.; Marc Gagnon, Pointe-aux-Trembles, and Jonathan Guilmette, Montreal, won gold medal.

Women's 1,000 metres: Marie-Eve Drolet, Laterriere, placed fourth in final; Alanna Kraus, Abbotsford, B.C., finished third in semifinal heat, eliminated, finished fourth in B final.
