Alpine Skiing

Women's giant slalom: Allison Forsyth, Nanaimo, finished in a tie for seventh in a final field of 54; Emily Brydon, Fernie, was 38th.

Bobsleigh

Four-man: Pierre Lueders, Edmonton; Ken LeBlanc, Calgary; Giulio Zardo, Montreal; Pascal Caron, Cap-de-la-Madeleine, Que., were 11th in a field of 33 afrer first two runs.

Curling

Men: Kevin Martin and his Edmonton team of third Don Walchuk, second Carter Rycroft and lead Don Bartlett won silver medal after losing 6-5 to Norway in gold-medal game.

Hockey

Men: Canada def. Belarus 7-1 in semifinal, advancing to gold-medal game.
