Canada is best known for its sprinters (the 500 and 1'000-metre events) in long track speed skating but watch for Dustin Molicki in the 1'500. Molicki, who broke three Canadian records and qualified for three events (1'500, 5'000 and 10'000) at the Olympic trials in December, is red hot heading into the Games.
"I don't want to make any major adjustments for the Games because things are going so well'" said Molicki, a silver medallist in the 1'500 at a World Cup in November. "I'm going to try an remember to have some fun too at the Olympics and just go for it."
He burst on the scene last year claiming the Canadian all around title and finishing fifth overall at the world championships. He also earned a first World Cup medal with a bronze in the 1'500.
Not very interested athletics as a child, speed skating attracted Molicki's curiosity at the Olympic Games in Calgary. He took some lessons and at age 16 decided to pursue the sport seriously.
