Kelley Law will skip Canada's entry in women's curling at the 2002 Winter Olympics. She'll also look to defend Canada's gold medal title earned in 1998 by the late Sandra Schmirler. Those Games represented the first time curling was an official sport at the Olympics.

"Hopefully we can follow in Sandra's footsteps," said Law. "A medal would be awesome. We'd just take that and hold that close to our hearts."

The Olympics have been a target for Law's crew since winning the Canadian and world titles in 2000, their first year together. They came to the trials this past December very well prepared. The foursome worked with personal trainers, a nutritionist and a sports psychologist. The team had a strict schedule, which included rest, team meals and team activities.

At the 1997 Olympic trials, Law went 6-3 but was eliminated in the semifinals skipping a different team than the one heading to Salt Lake City. At last year's nationals, her Olympic crew lost in the final to Colleen Jones.

Law is married with two children, aged nine and 18 months. She has curled for 23 years and is a five-time B.C., provincial champion.
