  Brett Carpentier is headed to his second straight Olympics in men's halfpipe, one of two snowboarding events at the Games. Last season he finished fifth in the halfpipe World Cup standings and was 10th at the world championships. He has four career medals on the World Cup circuit. He was ninth at the Nagano Games.

  Carpentier started snowboarding at age 14. He broke his ankle in November 1996 and missed the rest of that season.
