Clegg finishes 43rd
By BRUCE GARRIOCH -- Ottawa Sun
SOLDIER HOLLOW, Utah -- Biathlete Robin Clegg didn't get to walk on the podium, but he did leave yesterday's men's 10-km sprint with his head held high.
The Ottawa native, who won an appeal to get into the Games at the last minute, finished 43rd in the event, which was won by Norway's Ole Einer Bjoerndalen.
Clegg finished with a time of 27:28.3, well-behind the winning time of 24:31.3 but good enough to qualify him for Saturday's 12.5 pursuit event, where he's the only Canadian here.
"I was much more relaxed than the first race, although, I was a little bit tired from Monday," said Clegg, who placed 28th in the men's 20-km individual biathlon. "My ski speed picked up quite a bit. I'm pretty happy about that. It's a good omen going into the pursuit."
