Mike Mahood is the goaltender for the senior men's national team. His
career highlights include a gold medal win over Argentina at the 1999 Pan
Am Games in Winnipeg and his first major tournament appearance at the 1998
World Cup in the Netherlands. Canada finished eighth, which was a
best-ever result at that point. Mahood started playing field hockey at the
age of 9, and has been a member of the national squad since 1996. Away
from field hockey, he has begun building furniture as a hobby, and has been
besieged with requests for his 'Adirondack Chairs' in particular. He is
optimistic about Canada's chances for a medal in Sydney, and is looking
forward to the 2002 World Cup in Malaysia. The host country Malaysia is
one the Canadian team's main rivals in the sport.
