Pan Am Games bronze medallist Julie Mahoney has put school and a
university degree in commerce on hold for the past two years to achieve her
Olympic dream. With world rankings determining the Olympic entries it was
harrowing experience for Mahoney who just made it by the narrowest of
margins posting four top-16 World Cup results leading up to the May 1
deadline.
Mahoney started fencing at age seven. She lived across the street from the
Claude-Robillard sports complex in Montreal which offers beginners programs
in numerous sports.
