A police officer in Quebec City, centre Johanne Begin can lay down the law
in a water polo match with her prolific scoring talents. At the Pan Am
Games last year in Winnipeg she finished first in scoring as Canada won the
gold medal. She made her senior team debut in 1991 at the FINA World Cup in
Long Beach, California. Begin's list of senior competitions includes the
1991 FINA Cup, 1993 Six Nations Tournament, 1997 Canada Cup, 1997 FINA Cup
and 1998 World Aquatic Championships. At those 1998 worlds she finished
third in scoring. She has been a member of the Ste-Foy Hydres club since
1987.

Sept. 20: Canada lost 7-4 to Australia, dropping to 1-2-2 in round-robin play.
Sept. 19: Women: Canada lost 7-4 to the Netherlands, dropping to 1-1-2 in round-robin play.
Sept. 18: Canada def. Kazakhstan 10-3 in round-robin play for one win and two ties in three games.
Sept. 17: Canada tied U.S. 8-8 in second preliminary game.
