SYDNEY (AP) -- In an Olympic tournament of magic moments for beach volleyball, one of the most enduring was a match that had nothing to do with medals or glory.
An injury forfeit by the Mexican men's team left a sellout crowd at Bondi Beach stadium grumbling about the hour-long wait for the next game.

Dain Blanton and Eric Fonoimoana upset third-seeded Ze Marco de Melo and Ricardo Santos of Brazil 12-11, 12-9 on Tuesday to make it a sweep of the men's gold both times beach volleyball has been played at the games.

Silver is bittersweet for Brazilians
SYDNEY (AP) -- Germany's Jorg Ahmann and Axel Hager completed an unlikely run to an Olympic medal, defeating Luis Maia and Joao Brenha of Portugal 12-9, 12-6 to win the bronze in men's beach volleyball.
The U.S. team of Dain Blanton and Eric Fonoimoana faced Brazil's third-seeded Ze Marco de Melo and Ricardo Santos later Tuesday for the gold.
